The National Hockey League (NHL) is the premier

NHL was founded in 1917 amid a storm of controversy in Canadian
hockey leagues. |
| The race to
the NHL Playoffs -
The NHL betting season is in its final weeks, placing some
clubs in a hectic race towards the postseason finish line,
which makes some games more important than others. At this
point in the
NHL wagering campaign, knowing which teams are playing for
what can be the difference between winning money or losing
it. As teams get
deeper into the playoffs, games tend to get tighter
because the clubs are usually fairly evenly matched
(although not always) and net minders become more
stingy.

 |
Still, remember that even Patrick Roi and Grant Fuhrer, two
of the best playoff goalies ever, had off nights. Every
goalie has that one horrible playoff game where they give up
five, six or seven goals.

As far as multiple game elimination series style playoffs
go, hockey playoffs
betting is as good as it gets. The parity and the
competition level involved in hockey playoffs betting has
risen steadily every year over the past decades.

NHL Hockey Betting -
Stanley Cup
Hockey betting is becoming more popular each year. This is
known as one of the sports where a smart bettor who
practiced proper money management can make some really huge
profits. Once a bettor begins to study and understand Hockey
Odds, he or she can gain a better understanding of how the
bookies set their numbers. The bookies set a lot of these
Hockey Odds with the public in mind. They know the public is
going to bet the Detroit Red Wings and New York Rangers (and
other public teams) every week so there are some great
situations to get good numbers by going against teams like
that. NHL Stanley
Cup Betting
Referred to by Ice Hockey fans as "The Cup", "The Holy
Grail" or "Lord Stanley’s Mug" – the Stanley Cup is the
highest accolade in professional ice hockey. In 2007, the
Anaheim Ducks won their first Stanley Cup in the franchises
history, defeating the Ottawa Senators 4-1 in the season
finale.
Format for the 2009 Lord Stanley’s Cup Playoffs
At the conclusion of the 2008-09 regular season, the 2009
Calder Cup Playoffs will feature the top four teams in each
of the four divisions, with one possible exception: if the
fifth-place team in the West Division finishes with more
points than the fourth-place team in the North Division, it
would cross over and compete in the North Division playoffs.
The postseason format will again feature a divisional
playoff, leading to conference finals and ultimately the
Calder Cup Finals. All rounds will comprise best-of-seven
series.
In addition to mandating visors for all players, the only
substantive rule change adopted by the AHL at last week’s
meeting was that in the event of a defending player (other
than the goalkeeper) clearing the puck over the glass from
within the defensive zone, except in cases when a minor
penalty for delay of game is assessed at the discretion of
the referee, the offending team will not be permitted
a line change prior to the ensuing face off.
